1/16/2024 0 Comments High stakes witcher 3![]() ![]() This game I already love so much feels transformed, and I'm going to try and pick my way through Honour Mode with one of our Baldur's Gate 3 multiclass builds, namely the bard/thief crossbow gunner. ![]() It's like that scene from Dark Knight Rises where Batman climbs out of that big ole' Bane pit without the rope, only lamer. Maybe we were wrong, and getting rid of save scumming is what we needed all along. On the flip side, landing a "Command: Drop" spell with just 55% chance to hit on supposed-to-lose boss Commander Zhalk and stealing his nifty sword felt like an absolute coup. It reminds me of how my Fall of Delta Green tabletop character limped through some truly excruciating life events after failing rolls. Forget any self-imposed challenges-having save scumming removed as an option mechanically lends everything heightened stakes. What new tricks do they have in store now?Įven with all that, Honour Mode has me reinvigorated to dive back into Baldur's Gate 3 months sooner than I anticipated. Early game challenges like Grym or the Phase Spider Matriarch already loom large as potential run-enders. Cards like Dandelion or Commanders Horn are also helpful for combating the Monster decks' insane numbers.Permadeath aside, Baldur's Gate 3's Honour Mode is also notably more difficult than anything previously in the game-Divinity's version was just Tactician with permadeath, while the addition of "Legendary Actions" for bosses has me nervous as all hell.If they are all in his deck it might be hard to overcome without weather, and you should consider passing depending on how strong your own hand is. Muster can pull from the deck or hand so if he has those cards in his hand he will lose a lot of cards. Keep an eye on the number of cards he has in his hand when doing that. Muster can pull tons of cards which can be hard to trump.Play other card types if the other side looks scarier than yours. Since you will ideally frost the front row, keep that in mind when committing to the front yourself.Freezing the front row is always a great strategy against monsters Try to make sure you have a Frost card in your opening hand.Monster decks can be oppressive so here are some tips: Card awarded when defeated: Emhry var Emreis: The RelentlessĪt last, you face the champion! Count Tybalt uses a Monster deck with the leader card Eredin: Bringer of Death which returns a card from your own graveyard to get even more value from a powerful card.Switching to a Nilfgaardian deck against her to fight spies with spies is a good idea but not required to defeat her.Other weather isn't a great idea since you'll need all the cards you can get and most of her other bombs are hero cards which are immune.Fog is a strong weather type against her as the Black Infantry Archer card Nilfgaard has is ten power and one of her strongest non-hero cards power-wise which she further can buff. She has no weather cards, so you can commit as heavily as you like to any row.If you have a spy in the graveyard try using it before she can with a medic of your own.Nilfgaard wins draws, so it can be dangerous to pass first. She heavily relies on spies to gain card advantage and recycles them with decoys, medics, and her leader card.Keep in mind you can switch decks mid-tournament to adapt to your opponent. If you decline her offer to help her, and you lose to her, the quest fails. Regardless of if you decide to help her, she does not want you to go easy so play your heart out for the card she gives you when you win. In this round, you play against Sasha who is running a very strong Nilfgaardian deck using the leader card Emhry var Emreis: The Relentless which steals a card from your graveyard.
